Family Foundation

An outgrowth of our American philanthropic evolution is the need and demand for effective family foundation management. Our family foundation practice is designed to provide important services to family foundations.

Our mission is to foster and enhance the effectiveness, efficiency and enjoyment of family philanthropy. To attain our mission, we provide:

* Long-term strategic planning, as well as essential administrative services through affiliated professionals, for the benefit of family foundations, and family philanthropy; and

* Independent and objective analysis, advice and guidance, in collaboration with the other members of our clients' team of professionals.

Our vision is to bind together the members of the family by weaving philanthropy into the fabric of the family's life and values.

Non-Profit Organizations

When creating and operating a non-profit organization, the non-profit organization needs the advice and counsel of lawyers fully experienced in IRS regulations and the state and federal regulations that govern the operations of non-profit organizations.

If you are forming a non-profit organization or managing a non-profit organization, you know how complex the laws can be and you know the importance of following the letter of the law to obtain and maintain tax-exempt status. This area involves the planning, formation and operation of charitable or non-profit entities including foundations and non-profit corporations.

Jonathan Cran is experienced in advising non-profit entities, and is a volunteer attorney with MAP for non-profits. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota MAP provides high-value management consulting and services, as well as board recruitment and training, to large, medium and small nonprofit organizations in the Twin Cities and beyond, helping nonprofit clients to more effectively achieve their missions (www.mapfornonprofits.org).
